Synonymous

Have you ever had a conversation with a friend and in the midst of the dialog your friend mentions someone’s name that sounds familiar but you can’t place a face to the name? I can’t count how many times this has happened to me. Your friend takes some time to try and describe this person listing their physical appearance, personality, and other attributes to try and jog your memory. You’re lucky if your friend can say one thing that sparks it for you.

This happened to me not to long ago with my friend Jared. He had brought to my attention that he had been spending time with a guy named Reagan who claimed to know me and had visited with me on several occasions. Jared mentioned his name but it didn’t ring any bells. He even went through the process of describing him to me but to no avail. I eventually ended up meeting Reagan and as soon as I saw him it all came rushing back. That in fact I had met him before and I remembered our interactions.

During one of the sessions here at the Bethel School of Worship, the guest speaker encouraged us during his message to spend a few minutes asking Jesus to give us a new revelation of His name. It was in that moment that the Lord reminded me of instances such as the one with Jared and Reagan and spoke this to me:

“I want to make My NAME synonymous with my FACE!”

“No longer will you say my name (JESUS) without attaching the beauty of my countenance and glory of my presence along with it.”

As soon as He spoke this to me I began to shake, overwhelmed with the weightiness of that word. I have always known that there was power in the name of Jesus, but how could I forget that there is a beautiful, happy, and smiling face of a man behind this sweet name!

JESUS, Let all who read these words and speak Your name encounter your lovely FACE! You’re more than a name; You’re a gorgeous man whose pleasure for us out shines the brightest sun.

Put His face in your hands. Call out his name. Jesus, Jesus, JESUS!!! Can you see Him? He’s smiling, He’s in a good mood, He loves you.

Numbers 6:24 – 27 "The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them."
